Vegan in Bali | Where to eat in UBUD and SANUR

It’s time to write a little something about our vacay in Bali last year. At least about the places where we went to for lunch and dinner.

Finding something vegan isn’t that hard when you look for it. You will find veggies, noodles or rice in almost every restaurant.

UBUD

Warung Mandi

During our whole stay in Ubud almost every night we ate there, because it belonged to our accomodation, we loved the peanut sauce and it was really cheap comparable to the prices of restaurants in the center.

Tutmak

Strolling through Ubud Market we came across Tutmak. It’s located directly at the end of the street. I had some Gado Gado which means „mix-mix“ since it is made of rich mixture of vegetables, with tofu, tempeh and peanut dressing. I ordered a veganized version 😉

Taco Casa

Who doesn’t like mexican food?! We went there a few times and were not disappointed. They also deliver so it was perfect. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! I highly recommend it!

Uma Mandi

The coffee at our accomodation was for free, and you could taste that! So we found a cute little coffee shop right next to it and they had a good coffee machine. So we enjoyed our coffee a few times there while looking over the rice fields.

Starbucks

Since I collect Starbucks mugs we had to go there. You already know what you will get and it was nice to sit in an airconditioned room.

Alchemy

On our way from our accomodation to the center we drove past Alchemy so we had to try it at least once. It’s a cute little place where you can eat vegan and mostly raw. The prices weren’t so cheap so we ordered just a little something – Sushi. From what was delivered and what I expected was something completely different. Their sushi rice isn’t rice, I guess it’s a cabbage mix and papaya is in the middle. The taste was interesting, but not what I was craving for, I wanted „real“ sushi. Whatever, it was nicely prepared and you get miso soup with that dish.

Karsa Kafe

When walking the Campuhan Ridge Walk you will come along this beautiful Café in the middle of rice fields. There are no walls around so you feel a soft breeze from everywhere you sit. We had fresh fruits for a snack.

Nine Heaven Warung

I wanted to try as much vegan restaurants as possible so at one day we could make it to Nine Heaven Warung.

SANUR

Starbucks

Since the coffee sucked at our hotel we also went to the Starbucks in Sanur. It’s just a must-go-to 🙂

Komilfo

Looking for a restaurant at the beach we found this nice little warung. It was the only one where you don’t get approached to come in. The atmosphere is very laid back and that was exactly what we were looking for. They don’t exactly have vegan dishes, but they will prepare the food how you want to have it, so we went there a few times.

Warung Beach Breeze

Just a few steps away from our hotel we found Warung Beach Breeze. We liked the atmosphere. I always had Mie Noodles with vegetables and peanut sauce and I absolutely loved their GINGER ICE TEA!!!! If you go there, you have to try it.

Fortune Cookie

Just a few steps away from Warung Beach Breeze you will find the Fortune Cookie. The Veggie Dumplings are so delicious and I can absolutely recommend it. With the bill you will get a fortune cookie of course 😉

Since we rented a motorbike in Ubud and Sanur we also got something from the local supermarkets there like oatmeal, plantmilk, bananas of course and other fruits for inbetween. To my surprise there are a good variety of plantmilk, the most of it comes from Australia.

So I hope I could help other Vegans in their decision where to dine out. Please let me know if my recommendations where helpful.

And OFF they went…

Just in a few days Schatz and I will sit in an airplane (to be specific in an Airbus 380!) to BALI 🙂 We have a short stop in Bangkok, because there is no direct flight. We are so happy!

We will be in Ubud the first days.

And for the rest of the trip we will be in Sanur.

Entspannung steht nämlich an erster Stelle!
We are so looking forward to this vacation and are utterly curious. Normally I make plans for trips etc. but not this time. If we wanted to do something, we will decide it spontaneously. Relaxation is priority here!

How do YOU do it? Do you plan your whole trip in advance or are you rather spontaneous? Please let me know.
